Prerequisites for taking the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT®) Exam.
Candidates for the NSCA-CPT® examination must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Hold CPR/AED (cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automatic defibrillator) certification.
Required documentation
- Documentation must be provided only if the candidate has declared at the time of registration that he or she does not have a valid CPR/AED certification.
- Candidates without a valid CPR/AED certification may still register and take the exam; however, they must submit a copy of the valid certification within 1 year of the exam date.
Note: Do not submit documentation before you have registered for the exam.
Achievement of Certification
NSCA-CPT® certification will be issued only after meeting all eligibility requirements.
- Applicants have 1 year to submit the necessary documentation demonstrating completion of all required criteria
- Examination results will be cancelled if valid documentation is not received within 1 year from the date of the examination.
